Delicious. No garden is complete without Peppers. This variety is a wonderful heirloom variety with good old-fashioned taste. The Anaheim pepper is a mild chili pepper. The name "Anaheim" is derived from a farmer named Emilio Ortega who brought the seeds to the Anaheim, California in the early 1900s. Anaheim peppers are also called California chilis, and dried they are referred to as chile seco del norte. Anaheim peppers originated in New Mexico, and they are also sometimes known as New Mexico peppers. I dry and chop these up for red pepper flakes to spice up a variety of dishes. Seeds can be sown directly into garden when soil is warm or started in containers and transplanted when several inches tall.
